We have thoroughly enjoyed our summer library program.
They’ve had weekly story times outside under the tent, and a fun sing-along puppet show. Last week they even had a tea party. I wasn’t sure if it was going to be a pretend tea party as they read a book about it or maybe some cookies, so I was amazed when we got there and they had a huge, fancy spread laid out for a group of under 5’s. They had trays of little sandwiches, cookies, and fancy cupcakes, AND warm tea in real china demitasse cups. The kids loved it and keep asking when we can go again to the tea party.
Yesterday we experienced the best perk yet of our local library: a free day at the Bronx Zoo!
We were in need of a fun day out, and this definitely filled the bill.
A peacock and her babies said hello while we were eating lunch.
Our pass even got us into the stuff that usually costs extra, like the children’s zoo and the carousel.
Several of the animals were made of Legos.
Can you imagine having the patience to make these??
This one’s real.
Can you spot the hungry animal in this picture?
Funny story about the alligators.
The alligators were sitting there perfectly still, as alligators do. Elliot said, “Don’t worry. They’re just pretend.” They really did look pretend, they were so motionless. And he put his nose right up to the 1/4-inch glass against this one’s nose. And the alligator immediately opened his jaw and writhed his head around. Elliot let out a screech and literally leapt into my arms, terrified.
Speaking of scary, these were my least favorite…
The penguins were cute though.
Break time!
All in all, a great day to remember!
