Birthday!!!!

Today we asked ourselves the same question parents have been asking themselves for millenia: how could our little baby not be a baby anymore?? He's TWO!!!

This morning when he walked downstairs and saw a huge mound of presents on the table and about 30 balloons hanging from the ceiling, he was dumbstruck. After a few seconds Rob said, "Do you want to open presents?"
YAAAAAYYY!!!!!!
He was in heaven. Trains, cars, clanging cymbals, banging drums, books, music - everything he could ever dream of.
Are kids lucky or what?
Of course, the balloons were the most exciting.

We thought we'd just have a small party with the neighbor kids. We invited five. It sounded like a small number. Somehow six little kids really know how to fill up a house. Between the balloons and the trains and the drums and cymbals and maracas, it was pretty lively. We didn't get any pictures. We're new to this birthday party thing. We did get a shot before the guests arrived.

Our novice position in the birthday party club was further revealed with the birthday cake. It didn't turn out so well. Elliot likes stars, so we thought we'd make a star-shaped cake. But a lack of planning and foresight resulted in this rather pathetic result.

Elliot seemed to love it anyway. He had a wonderful day and felt special and loved. And really, that is the point, isn't it?
