We've been talking about her for months, and she finally came. The great Paci Fairy flittered in yesterday and sealed the deal: Elliot is officially a big boy.
We didn't know if he could do it, but he's been saying for a while now that he's a big boy and doesn't need his pacifier anymore. Of course, he always said that with one or more pacifiers stuck in his mouth.
But once he found out that the Paci Fairy would leave him a present if he gave her all his pacis for the children around the world who didn't have any, he really, really wanted her to come.
So yesterday we tied all his pacis on a string and hung them outside for the Paci Fairy.

A few minutes later the doorbell rang, so we dashed to the front door to try to catch a glimpse of her. "Look, Mommy! The Paci Fairy took all the pacis!"

And there on the front step was a present! A set of
Cars cars! How did she know he LOVES that movie??

According to the Super Nanny and several of our friends, once a child encounters the Paci Fairy, even the most diehard pacifier addict will make a clean break and never look back. So we were hopeful. But in the last 24 hours, including twice in the middle of the night, he's had three full-blown meltdowns, crying for his paci. Poor little guy. Life's tough. But he's facing it bravely.

Cute story with great pictures! Elliot seems just like all of us, so brave to accomplish the grandest task until we are tired and alone. Hope he is hanging in there!
Dellen had a similar night last night. He was so tired after staying up for the Super Bowl, that the idea of going to sleep by himself brought him into pure hysterics. Which in turn, kept dear Sam up until 11:00 on a school night!
