nanny and grampy to the rescue

I am finally getting back to the blog, after the recent upheaval of Rob's ill health. Rob's hospitalization was a very grim time, indeed, and we were all hugely relieved and encouraged by Rob's parents flying out to see us. Michael had been planning to speak at a conference in Dallas and had been preparing for weeks, so it was no small sacrifice to scrap those plans and reroute to Newark instead. But when they arrived, it was like a huge burden was lifted from all of us.

Elliot's spirits skyrocketed at the news that Nanny and Grampy were coming. His intent little face transformed with the excitement, and we all had a wonderful time together.

They arrived on Friday, and Rob was released from the hospital on Saturday without a diagnosis, which was disappointing. The doctors can't find anything wrong, which is a good thing in one sense, but at the same time we have no explanation for why these episodes happened or whether they will happen again.

So we brought him home and fed him and made him lie down and do nothing for long periods of time. And in the meantime, Michael and Carol entertained Sophie and Elliot and even gave them a bath. I told Michael and Carol that if they could just come over and do this every night, my life would be transformed.
The next day, we went out to our favorite diner before saying farewell.

They injected us with energy and love and revived our spirits when we all were feeling down and exhausted. It was a special time and meant so much!

These are precious photos. I'm so glad Michael and Carol could come. It is really good to see the great pics of Rob after his episodes.
