when it rains, it snows??

Exactly one week after Rob's first stroke-like episode, he had another one exactly like it. He had been doing everything possible to get himself back to full health: impeccable eating habits - lots of veggies and whole grains - and total relaxation. He was taking a week off to recuperate and reevaluate his many obligations.

So it was a huge disappointment, to say the very least, when it recurred and sent us into a full panic. His right side went numb, including the right side of his face, and his speech turned into gobbledygook. We called for an ambulance, and he was rushed to the hospital, where he has remained for the past two days undergoing the full gamut of tests. At this point, they've decided these attacks have not been TIAs, or mini-strokes, after all. They're exploring a few other possibilities, so we'd love to have your prayers that they'll figure out exactly what's going on.

In the midst of all this, yesterday we had a full-on snowstorm. Normally, I would be oohing and aahing at the beauty of it and snuggling up inside by the fire with a nice warm cup of hot chocolate. However, 1) it's October 15, for heaven's sake, and 2) my poor husband is stuck in a hospital ward and not sitting beside me, so snuggling by the fire isn't really an option right now. Elliot of course was desperate to go out and play, so he did get a few minutes this morning. Wasn't much fun without his daddy, though.
