the long weekend

The weekend: two days of vast, empty space, interrupted only by a few hours of church. What to do, what to do?

Saturday morning starts with pancakes, of course. And then a little art time - even better if you can do it in a pirate costume.

What, lunchtime already? You can eat or sleep, take your pick.
Then Rob got a brainwave: Could Elliot be old enough for...BOWLING?!?!!

going...going...going...(5 minutes later...) gone!!!

There were actually several other families there with the same idea.
Elliot LOVED it! I think we're going to go again next Saturday. Maybe they can beat their impressive scores? Watch this space!
Across from the bowling alley is one of our favorites - Pennings. You really can't beat this place for entertainment. A train to play on, slides and swings, and lots of farm animals - all for free!
We headed home for some hot chocolate by the fireplace. After some pizza, baths, and storytime, it was lights out. One day down!

On Sunday afternoon we wandered over to our state park, just ten minutes away. Had a walk through the woods, by the beach, and over to the playground.

And the weekend was over.
