Rob had a meeting in Ely yesterday – 20 minutes away – so the kids and I tagged along and explored the town while we waited for him.
We’d been to the cathedral last Christmas, so this time I thought it’d be a great idea to go to the 17th century home of Oliver Cromwell. It’d be a great educational outing for them. They were not at all interested and kept begging to just go play at a park instead. Which is just as well, because I managed to completely miss the house (that’s located across the street from the cathedral) and instead go on a mile-long detour, at the end of which we were all exhausted and dehydrated, and Sophie was desperate to pee.
On the positive side, we ended up here, with this spectacular view of the cathedral and three very friendly and gorgeous horses to chat with.
They were very happy to eat handfuls of grass from the kids’ hands.
We eventually made it back to the cathedral and after finally finding a bathroom for Sophie, we enjoyed some ice cream.
Sophie didn’t hold back.
The rest of the day was just lovely.
We finally did find a park to play in, too.
Back home, Sophie created a bow for her hair out of flower petals and tape. :)
And then we went for a wander by the river, where the university rowing teams were out in force.
Every day is just so beautiful. We are feeling the days disappearing through our fingers – just over 3 weeks left here. It’s going too fast!
