Minehead week – seaside fun

A few more posts to come about our week in Minehead! It really was a good old-fashioned English seaside holiday. The British tend to joke about always being cold at the beach, even through the summer. It definitely wasn’t swimsuit weather, but we were all grateful that it didn’t rain the whole time we were all together – that was definitely an answer to prayer. All the kids couldn’t get enough of the beach. They wanted to be there all day, every day.

Their favorite thing to do was to go crabbing. My kids had never seen real live crabs before, and they were fascinated.

Nanny and Grampy brought along some kites for the kids.

It was so windy, the tent nearly blew over. We tried to have a picnic, and sand got in all the food. Aw, good times.

At the beginning of the week, Nanny and Grampy told the kids about their “Beano Fund” – they’ve been collecting change in a jar, and now it was time to count it and divvy it all out.

In the end, each grandchild ended up with a whopping £17 for their own spending money. Very exciting!

Our final meal together was, of course, fish and chips.

Love the Beano Fund idea - what is behind the name? Cricket on an English beach - sounds amazing.
